What is a Home Fellowship Group?

A Home Fellowship group is a gathering of people who meet weekly to encourage and support one another in their spiritual journey. Home Fellowship groups are a place to do life together: living, learning, praying, eating, playing, and resting together. Groups are encouraged to not just be about “business” but to include community-oriented activities like sharing a meal together, serving together, and having fun!

Another name for a Home Fellowship group is extended family. There is a place for you in one of Living Stream's Home Fellowship groups.

Why Should I Join a Home Fellowship Group?

The best way to answer this question for yourself is to take a group or two for a test drive!

We consider Home Fellowship groups to be one of the most important ways to experience connection and community at Living Streams. In a Home Fellowship group you are on a spiritual journey with others--encouraging one another as you live, learn and grow together. Your group will be a place where you get to put your faith into practice, along with others, who may grow to become your best friends.

When and Where Do These Groups Meet?

Our Home Fellowship groups meet on various days and nights of the week in homes throughout Clackamas and Multnomah counties. Each group has a facilitator who may also provide the host home for the gathering.

Most people like to visit the worship service a few times before visiting one of the groups, and the address and meeting time for each group is listed in the Sunday bulletin.

How Long Does A Group Last?

Home Fellowship groups typically follow the school year: beginning in September and meeting into June. If this commitment seems long, you can visit just once or twice, but you might keep in mind that it often takes several weeks before you really feel at home.

Which Group Should I Join?

You may choose to join a group for several different reasons: either a friend invited you, the location works for you, or because of a special interest or station in life. It may take two or three visits before you find the perfect fit. But don't worry, you'll find it!

What About Childcare?

We leave it up to each group to work out their own childcare. Sometimes it works best for a group to share a sitter or to swap childcare with another group who meets at a different time.

What Will We Study?

Some group's discussions are based on the previous Sunday's sermon, following a “Lecture-Lab” model. If you imagine the weekend sermon as a lecture on Christian living, then the group meeting is a lab where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the sermon works out in real life. Other groups choose to study different material based on group interest. You can contact the individual listed in the bulletin for updated information.

How do I Sign Up?

Church-wide sign-ups will be made available periodically. Otherwise, call or send an email to a group contact to find out about a specific group.
